At 7.30. p.m. on June 27th, 2025, the fifth lecture of the 2024 Parent School was successfully held in Anqing Foreign Language School's first-floor lecture hall, focusing on ‘The Art of Communication and Psychological Support during Adolescence’, which was delivered by Assistant Principal Chen Peifeng and attended by over two hundred parents.
First and foremost, with his profound professional knowledge and rich educational experience, Assistant Principal Chen Peifeng conducted an in-depth analysis of the issues related to adolescence education that are commonly concerned by parents. For instance, he proposed the educational concept of ‘gradual release’, encouraging parents to help their children develop their self-learning abilities by setting up daily study plans and responsibility lists, and guiding children to shift from passive learning to active development.
In addition, family relationships, as a significant environment for children's growth, is also one of the key focuses of this lecture. To be concrete, Assistant Principal Chen Peifeng elaborated in details on the significance of maintaining a balance and coordination among marital relationships, parent-child communication, and intergenerational education, emphasizing that a harmonious family environment is the cornerstone for children's mental health and psychological growth. Also, Assistant Principal Chen Peifeng proposed clear solutions to the common conflicts in intergenerational education, such as responsibility division, respecting communication methods, and maintaining consistency in values, aiming to help parents and grandparents reach a consensus and form a joint educational force.
Furthermore, the phenomenon of early romance, as an inevitable topic in adolescence education, has drawn great attention from parents. Accordingly, Assistant Principal Chen Peifeng proposed a three-stage handling method of ‘acceptance, guidance, and regulation’, encouraging parents to face their children's emotional needs with an inclusive and understanding attitude, because scientific and reasonable guidance could help children establish correct values and outlook on life.
Last but not the least, after the lecture, parents all expressed that they had gained a lot from it, praising Assistant Principal Chen Peifeng’s lecture for being both theoretically profound and closely related to reality, thus providing effective ideas and methods for solving the problems encountered in family education. Meanwhile, Anqing Foreign Language School will continue to deepen the cooperation between the school and families, launching more high-quality parent education courses to provide more support for parents on their parenting journey.
In conclusion, the theme lecture is one of the main approaches for our Junior High School Department to enhance cooperation between home and school, thus laying a solid foundation for the establishment of a three-in-one home-school collaborative education mechanism of ‘prevention - intervention - support’. More remarkably, with the joint efforts of family and school, it’s believed that our children will surely grow up healthily and embrace a brighter future.
